leave a comment »

This post will speak about how to install dropbox on the linux system where no gnome envirnoment and also no nautilus, or you don’t want to install it.

First of all I will not speak what is dropbox, you can find more about it on http://www.dropbox.com.

Start with downloading the dropbox package from http://www.dropbox.com web site, for you system. In my case is Ubuntu, so I will download the package named Ubuntu(x86.deb).

Install the downloaded package, again, in my case it will be the command:

$ sudo dpkg -i <package name>

After that you must start second dropbox install action, running the command:

$ dropbox start -i

That will initiate the install process, which will download from internet additional components and install them. After that you will be prompted with the nice wizard to configure the installation and that’s all!

Congrats, you have dropbox installed!
